site automatically redirects from http to https and i don't have access to https! help!

    okay, i have searched and searched, spoken to my internet people, my host, and my domain, and everyone is absolutely stumped. here’s what happened. please assume i have a five year old’s knowledge of any of this (actually there are 5 yos who probably know more than me)

    1. i buy my domain on namecheap
    2. i set up a wordpress.com account. i buy a premium wordpress.com account and set up my .com domain.
    3. realize i’ve made a mistake, i don’t want .com, i want .org.
    4. buy bluehost.
    5. get set up with my original namecheap domain at bluehost.
    6. having trouble with this, i FOOLISHLY delete my wordpress.com accounts and unsubscribe from wordpress.com premium. after everything, i suspect this is where i went wrong.
    7. now no matter what i do, when i type in http://mydomain.com/wp-login.php (etc), it redirects to https:// every time, and i don’t have access to https!

    i have tried every browser, multiple devices, different types of internet, clearing the cache/browser data, resetting my modem and restarting my computer, other things – nothing has worked. i’m hesitant to buy an ssl certificate because what if that doesn’t even fix it and i’m out that $$! please help ;-;

    Hi @beachcitycon, so your new WordPress.org installation automatically directs to https even though your host doesn’t support it, right?

    This is a better question for the WordPress.org forums, but if you can, you might check your site URL setting and change it if needed. Good luck!
