Site Crashed

  • Unknown's avatar

Hi, I was trying to updated the PHP. I had created a staged site which added .Local to the end of the domain name. I was trying to make the updated PHP version/staged version live and I couldn’t figure out how to do it. So, I went into some setting and removed the .Local extension. Now, I am unable to get into the Admin of the site and the site does not load. Please help! I was able to get into this admin site but it is not the correct one because we already have an established website for rubyvalleychamber.com

    Hi,

Unfortunately, your site is not hosted with WordPress.com. It’s using the open-source WordPress.org software and is hosted with Google.

WordPress.com and WordPress.org are completely separate, you can find more information on WordPress.com vs WordPress.org here:

    WordPress.com vs. WordPress.org

You can find support for WordPress.org on the community forums here:
    https://wordpress.org/support/forums/

http://wordpress.org/support/ has great resources for the open-source WordPress.org software.

    I hope that helps.

  • Hello Raechel,

You would need to reach out to the WordPress.org forums here, for advice on how to fix a local installation: https://wordpress.org/support/

If you’re able to remember how the .local was removed, you’d ideally want to reverse that action.

I see the domain rubyvalleychamber.com is with Google domains, have you got an installation set up with them as well?

    Many thanks in advance.

Thank you for the information. I was not aware of this.

I know exactly how I removed it but I would need to see the screen in settings as I don’t remember what that menu was called.

We have the domain with Google and apparently the hosting is with A2. But, both companies claim that there is no linked website to either of them. So, I’m super confused.
