Site deleted??

  Hello,

  We haven’t used the site much during lockdown, so when we went onto it last week, it says it has been deleted and is no longer available, here is the domain:
  http://www.danesfieldschoolpta.com/

  A number of people have access to change it, but we are confused as to how and why it has been deleted?

  Any help much appreciated. An email was sent informing the deletion, but was missed at the time.

  Hi there,

  Checking the system, it looks like the site was deleted two months ago by the owner of the account. Unfortunately, after 30 days, deleted sites are completely and purged and cannot be restored:

  Delete a Website

  We are unsure why the owner deleted the site – I would reach out to them in regards to that.

  Could you please explain what they would have had to do to delete it? Could it have happened by accident or would you have to log in and go through various steps? We have no idea who would have done this or why! Could it have been hacked?

  In order to delete a site, you’d need to follow these steps: https://wordpress.com/support/delete-site/

  In short, the owner would have needed to be logged in, chosen the delete option, chosen to export or not, chosen delete again, and entered the full site URL in a final confirmation step.

  In short, it’s impossible to do accidentally, and impossible to have been done by anyone without access to the owner’s WordPress.com account.

  Thank you, that is very helpful. As far as we know, nobody who had the log in details has done that, and there is no reason why they would! I understand that we can’t get our content back and there isn’t anything else you can really do to help but I wonder if somebody got into our account illegally and maybe you would want to look into that, to save it from happening to someone else?

  We also have our domain http://www.danesfieldschoolpta.com, and hosting with WordPress. Can you instruct how we can get access to this domain to be able to attach the new website which we are having to re-do?

  All of this only could happen from the owner’s account danesfieldptacharity and that person would have had access to the email connected to the account. Have you reached out to the original creator and owner of the account? All of this was initiated from that username. If you talk to the owner and you believe it is an issue of hacking, let us know.

  So, although danesfieldptacharity owned the site, you owned the upgrades, so I can transfer the domain to another site under your account so that you all can start over. Let me know what site you would like for me to transfer the domain to.
