Site Description in Google

This is the link to what shows up as the description under the site link.

“It is not by being richer or more powerful that a man becomes better; one is a matter of fortune, the other of virtue. Nor should she deem herself other than venal …

Those words however are the first that appear on the home page and are not the description of the web site. The accurate description is the one I wrote in the first paragraph of the About Us page.

    Please advise,

    Hi Gail,

Google creates those site descriptions based on the meta data of any given page. WordPress automatically makes that meta data based on the content you enter, and it will typically pull the first few sentences from the page body.

In your case, you can view your home page’s source here:

    view-source:http://escortinternetdesign.co/

Google is pulling that description from this bit of code in that source:

We don’t offer customization of this meta data, so there’s no way to change that google description for your home page without including your preferred text on the home page.

Good to know. I’m almost ready to transition to a Host and WordPress.org.

    Sometimes that’s a better fit. :)

Let me know if you need help on how to go through that transition.
