Hi @olga66.
You can preview themes in the theme showcase without activating them on your site by clicking on the three dots in the lower right-hand corner of each theme’s listing and choosing “Try & Customize.”
This will open your site in a Customizer window and show what it will look like with the theme you have chosen to try out. You can navigate to different parts of your site to see what posts and pages will look like, as well as change the theme options to your liking.
Your site will not change to the new theme and options until you click on “Activate & Publish” at the top of the left sidebar. Clicking the “X” in the top left corner will close the “Try & Customize” window without making any changes to your site.
Using those steps you can “try on” lots of different themes and options to find the perfect design and layout for your site without changing anything until you are ready. :)
Once you find the theme you want to use, you can set the theme options and click on the “Activate & Publish” button to bring those changes to your published site. The new theme will be applied to your site and viewable to visitors at that time.
If you want to read move about the process, there are lots of details and screenshots as well as a video walkthrough of the process on the Themes support page.
Happy theme hunting!

Thank you
I understood this idea,; however we what to build new site with new design and layout and after this switch sites and delete old one -
Okay! I have a couple questions to help us find the best way to approach this change.
Will the content of your site (posts and pages) remain the same through the theme/design transition or are you looking to start with a new, blank site?
Are you wanting to continue using woodblocks.design as the site address?

Thank you
The theme and design will be new, however content will be more likely the same (media, some text).
Site address will be the same. -
In that case there are a few options, though none of them are quite as simple as customizing the site in the “Try & Customize” area and then activating it.
Option 1:
You could set your site to private while you make the changes and return the visibility to public once you have completed your design. This would effectively render your site unavailable for the public while you make the changes, so it may not be the most optimal solution.Option 2:
Add a new site to your account here at WordPress.com, set it to private, and work on your new design there. You can export the content from your current site and import it to the new one if you want to use it. Once you are ready for the new design to go public, you could use the option to transfer your domain name to another site you own, thereby pointing woodblocks.design to the new site (and away from the old). The catch here is that the new site will have to have a paid plan to complete the switch (since it will be connected to the custom domain and doing so requires a plan). To be honest, I don’t have any personal experience with the procedure in option 2, so I am going to add a modlook tag in the sidebar here so that a staff member can take a look for you and verify that this approach will work (and let us know if there might be a better one that I’m missing).
I should also mention that if you have a paid WordPress.com plan you have access to priority Live Chat support. :)

Hi @olga66,
The two options that @cookgardensew suggested are typically what I would recommend. The only change I would make is that if you go with option two, staff can move the plan between sites for you, simply contact us over live chat or in the forums and we’ll get it taken care of.
If you’re looking to do a few minor changes then option 1 would be the better route, for a complete re-build then option 2.
