Site Directs Some to Godaddy ????

So I’ve had a number of people tell me that when they try and visit my site, http://www.michaelbrodner.com, it directs them right to godaddy. Anybody know the reasoning behind this? I mapped my godaddy account to wordpress so it’s just a “.com” name instead of a “wordpress.com” name…????

It takes some time to settle in. It’s working for me when I click on your name. Goes to your WP site.

Ok thanks. It’s weird though, I’ve had my site for a while and occasionally I get someone saying, “Hey I tried going to your site the other day and it took me to Godaddy…”

    Hi Michael,

If I “whois” michaelbrodner.com, I see the following:

    Domain servers in listed order:
    NS15.DOMAINCONTROL.COM
    NS16.DOMAINCONTROL.COM
    NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
    NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
    NS3.WORDPRESS.COM

As you can see, your domain is pointing to the WordPress name servers AND the GoDaddy ones, and from what I can tell the GoDaddy name servers point to a different IP than the WordPress ones. This is probably why some people are seeing the GoDaddy site.

    From http://support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/:

    “Q: I own domain.com, can I map that to my wordpress.com blog?
A: Yes! Here is what you need to do: Go to your domain registrar and change the nameservers to the following, being sure to remove any existing nameservers that may be there:

    ns1.wordpress.com
    ns2.wordpress.com
    ns3.wordpress.com

    …”

Removing reference to the GoDaddy name servers at your domain’s registrar should do the trick.

    I hope this helps!
