Site disabled as SPAM

  • Unknown's avatar

    Dear WordPress Team,

With great embarrassment we had to learn that someone or something (dis-)qualified our site as spam.
It is beyond our grasp how that can happen, except if possibly malevolent individuals are scanning site contents for information that as such is critical for their own position, and they can “retaliate” in inquisitional manner by just clicking somewhere on “Spam” which Akismet could take as true while WordPress has no checks in place to get after that.

PLEASE, UNLOCK OUR SITE, AND MAKE IT ACCESSIBLE AGAIN.

It is a growing stock of valuable information, and there is NO WAY that something like “spam” could ever characterize our site.
We feel greatly mistreated and feel humiliated by illogic and against all common reasoning executed barring.

Please adjust Akismet so far that it allows for pinpointing or reports on where and who might have flagged us.

Thank you very much for your valuable time.

    Sincerely,
    A. Thomas C. Mann

What is the URL of the site you are talking about?

Are you talking about email addresses or what?

Akismet does not scan or disable sites, it only scans and protects blogs from comment spam and spam through contact forms if the contact form is set up to take advantage of that ability.

Thank you for getting back on the inquiry. We thought the site would be exhibited automatically through our avatar and the name beneath.
    It’s divadivinita.wordpress.com

Before ~3 hours suddenly another site that we were editing on another network shut down. The administrator hinted on their site’s connection with WordPress’s Akismet.

Upon opening the Akismet statistics I saw that 3 times our profile site had been flagged as spam – which I believe to be not possible by itself but through human interference (such as described in our initial note).
It’s strange that this is happening, more strange even that we were not made aware of such thing, and even mindboggling that we did not get a chance to prevent such scenario.
Someone must intentionally have marked our page as spam because we are against all kinds of environmental misdemeanor and against GMO. That said it is possible that someone used to him (his organization’s) known means to disable people like us from bringing on a well researched and verbally strong level the sustainable message out.
That’s so far what I personally believe. It’s a shame that this can happen at all. We even do not use any vulgar language nor do we offend anyone. We only added news from leading media outlets or documentary movies to our own product and activity description.
Thanks again for getting back on us.
    Your handle is great “thesacredpath”.
    Best regards,
    ATCM

It could be because I haven’t had much sleep recently, but I can’t actually figure out what your site is about… Maybe if you made it more clear what your site is about, rather than just posting stuff that could be seen as spam, you wouldn’t have this issue?

Could be wrong, but that would be my suggestion.

I find your site incoherent to me – If your Posting is disabled you need to contact the Terms of Service staff at the link they provided, site suspensions and Posting disabled are not discussed in the forum nor can anyone in the forum change the status of your blog.

You might also review the TOS while you are waiting to hear from the staff:

    http://en.wordpress.com/tos/

    http://wordpress.com/types-of-blogs/

    http://en.support.wordpress.com/advertising/

@divadivinita: If you contacted us through the “click here to contact us” link in the notice on your Dashboard, our ToS department definitely received your request, and they’ll be getting back to you ASAP (if you didn’t click, please do).

As a policy, please refrain from discussing ToS issues on the public forums.

The Staff won’t be around until June 20th; http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/
I think @divadivinita’s blog is okay since they are growing and selling their own products (fruits and vegetables). But of course, the staff has the final word.

Staff has said that the TOS department can always be reached with the link that is provided for TOS questions, the TOS contact system is a different form than the standard contact support form.

As vanillalounge noted above, staff does not discuss TOS issues in public forums.
Use the click to contact link you got when you were contacted about your blog being suspended.
As auxclass noted, it is not the same as the usual contact, which is , yes, closed until Monday 20 Je 2011.

If you didn’t receive an email about this issue, then check your spam/junk box to retrieve it.

I’ll close this thread as there is no reason to keep talking about this here. Between you and TOS department.

(yes, sometimes there are mistakes, so take heart!)
