Site Disappeared Over Night

Hello,
My site was up last night and then when I longed on this morning it had disappeared. When I click the site on my main page it takes me to a page that says, ‘authorkristenwitherspoon.wordpress.com doesn’t exist.’
I haven’t been able to find anything online about this happening to other people but I definitely hadn’t tampered with anything that would cause it to disappear. Please help.

Are you able to reach your site, now? When I visited authorkristenwitherspoon.wordpress.com, I was able to navigate around and view the content. -

The link was still not working for me (even after I cleared my cache). Not sure why it was looking okay for you this morning.
And then this evening I clicked the link on the page it sent me to that said, “would you like to register authorkristenwitherspoon.wordpress.com?” and it set me up with a whole new page under the same old URL. But all of my content, blog posts, and theme changes are lost. So when I click “Switch Site” it looks as though I have two sites with the exact same URL: http://s31.postimg.org/n0o2c33wb/Screen_Shot_2016_04_24_at_7_11_48_PM.png.
I might have miffed it up when I changed themes but it was driving me kind of bonkers. I’m okay starting over again if need be. Thanks for responding!

I haven’t changed it. :) It’s still https://authorkristenwitherspoon.wordpress.com/. But I have changed the theme since then so maybe that caused it to be lost for good?

Hi @kristenwitherspoon, no, I think there was just a bug. It’s all straightened out. Can you verify your URLs are set up as intended now?

Hello all,
I have the same issue, I created the site last Thursday and on Friday I am getting the message that the site doesn’t exist, do I want to register it. I have changed my username though. But still, I do see the pages created, yet cannot open them.. https://gsaltworld.wordpress.com/
Would really appreciate if you could tell if made it work for your site, as I tried opening yours and it seems to be working.

My site (with all of my original content and designs) just came back today so I’m not sure what happened other than a bug like what was stated previously. It looks like when I was renaming the domain name it created a completely new site rather than renaming my old one (bug).
What I had to do was recreate my old site on the new domain that I had originally wanted. Hope that makes sense and helps!

That is indeed a bug we’re trying to track down. If you run into it, let us know; our developers can fix it for each site. We do know it’s not happening every time someone renames a site, though, so we’re still trying to figure out exactly what causes this issue. If either of you has extra details about the processes you used to rename your sites, we’d welcome that.
