Site disconnected? (False positive)

    Hello,

I searched around the forum and couldn’t find a straight answer. My site was disconnected for a few days last month and I noticed that on wordpress.com, I get a notification saying my site cannot be reached, asking me to disconnect it. I still post to the site every day yet that notification won’t go away.

    How do you fix this?

I am able to access your site.

This could be due to an issue with your browser.

I recommend following the troubleshooting steps outlined here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/ .

This will ensure that your browser is up to date and supported, your browser cache & cookies are clean, that JavaScript is enabled, and more.

You can also try using a different browser.

If this doesn’t work, please let us know and we’ll troubleshoot from there.

Yes, thank you for confirming that the site can be accessed. It’s a back-end error where WordPress is saying that the site hosted by Jetpack is disconnected. I checked on another browser and the error persists so I’ll include a picture for clarity.

  • Hi there,

    Thanks for the screen shot.

You have two sites in your account. The site you indicated in your original post, http://thoasp.wordpress.com/, is fine, and is not the one showing the error.

The site that is showing the error is a self-hosted site connected to your account via the Jetpack plugin, http://thoasp.com/wordpress

It doesn’t appear that that Jetpack connection is currently active. Can you please log into that site’s WP-Admin dashboard and check what the Jetpack settings say there? You might need to disconnect and reconnect from there.

  • Based on the error message at https://jetpack.com/support/debug/?url=thoasp.com%2Fwordpress it looks like it could also be a problem on your hosting provider’s end, that they’re preventing us from connecting to your site properly.

It might be better if you contacted Jetpack support directly for help with this, as they’ll know better what you need to do here.

Thank you very much for your support on the topic. I waited until after my hosting service renewed and it was fine afterwards. It suggests that this hosting in particular is corrected on a monthly basis. The problem was occurring on the hosting provider’s end.

  • Thanks for letting me know :)
