    Hello friends,
I have created a site, 3 or 4 years ago.
Now I want to keep edit and publish it, But in edit mode, I’m unable to see any of my site components.
It is still live site, which I can see via view mode, And via the site url.
But in edit mode, I can’t see anything.
Can you guide me how to solve it?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hello there,

    Many thanks for reaching out.

Are you able to confirm the URL of the website that you need assistance with please?

    Hi there,
    Thank you for contacting me.
    Yes I can.

  • Hi,

Aleone89 is asking if you can provide us with that URL. You listed 2seesite.wordpress.com, but that site does not appear to ever have been worked on as it still shows the defualt site content from when it was created.

What is the URL of the site you are asking about? We’ll be happy to take a look and see if we can help.

    Hi,
This is the url, It does show the few changes I have made.
Is there a way for me to attach screenshot in here?

  • Hi there,

To clarify, 2seesite.wordpress.com is the site you are having issues with editing?

I don’t think we need a screenshot at this point (just want to be sure we’re all talking about the same site) and I can also confirm that 2seesite.wordpress.com is public on the internet and I am able to visit it. Here is what I see:

Now I want to keep edit and publish it, But in edit mode, I’m unable to see any of my site components.

You mentioned “Edit mode” and I’m not exactly sure what that refers to, but it sounds like you are not seeing anything when you get there. Can you copy the URL (from your browser address bar) of the page you are on where you are seeing that?

We would like to visit directly and confirm if we see the same thing, and from there we can investigate what is going on, thanks!

    Yes that is right.

I think I’m referring to the wordpress dashboard.
    This is the link:

    https://wordpress.com/home/2seesite.wordpress.com

    Thank you.

    Thanks for clarifying!

Are you expecting to see “Editor” under the Appearance menu like you do on your other site orgreen.wordpress.com?

If so, you need to switch to a theme that supports the Full Site Editor (FSE). Your other site is using the Appleton theme, which supports the FSE.

You can choose a different theme for 2seesite.wordpress.com that uses the FSE from this list:

    https://wordpress.com/themes/filter/block-editor-styles

    I hope that helps!

    Hi there,

Are you expecting to see “Editor” under the Appearance menu like you do on your other site orgreen.wordpress.com?

Yes, while on dashboard or pages I accept to see the theme layout and to be able to configure the design and content, just like Idid initially.

I would love to be able to keep editing from the place I left on the same theme I already have.
It was free theme downloaded directly from wordpress on 2016 –
    Is it possible?

  • Got it. This is a “classic” theme that doesn’t support full site editing. The editor will let you add a title and content, but the edit pages don’t incorporate the layout.

The Sela theme is in fact retired here for that reason.

If you’d like the Full Site Editing tools, please choose one of these:
    https://wordpress.com/themes/filter/full-site-editing/

You can pick one that’s closest to your end goal, and edit it so you have the result you want. We have a tutorial here:
    https://wordpress.com/support/full-site-editing/

Full Site Editing is a whole new world with frequent updates, so if you’re interested, I’d recommend joining one of our webinars on it, too:
