Site does not appear in Google search
-
I launched my site around 8 weeks ago and it still does not appear in Google searches.
When I launched it, I followed the directions in this article by making it public and unchecking “Discourage search engines from indexing this site.” A few weeks later, I even verified the site with Google via an HTML tag.
https://wordpress.com/support/seo/Is there anything else I can do with my site to get it indexed by Google?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi @damerc93! This is for https://dannymercuriohikesthewhites.wordpress.com/, right?
We still need to work out that template issue from the other thread, I see. But have you also done this?
https://en.support.wordpress.com/webmaster-tools/
That allows you to connect to Google’s webmaster tools so you can get a better look at what they’re making of your site.

I verified my property with Google via their “URL Prefix” method using an HTML tag, which I added to my WordPress site under Tools > Marketing > Traffic. Google successfully verified the URL about 6 weeks ago, and I’m able to access to their Search Console. However, I’m still not seeing my site appear in search results, and no data is showing in the Google Search Console.
Any idea why my site isn’t yet searchable by Google?

Hi there,
I’ve taken a look at your site, and I don’t see anything wrong with how it is displayed, and there seems to be nothing impeding the ability of search engines to crawl and index the site.
I am also able to confirm they are able to scan the site and are showing some info when you do a “site search” within Google:

Sadly we are not in control of Google directly, so we can’t determine why they do not rank your site in search results, but they are definitely able to index the site. Otherwise, the search I shared above would be empty.
no data is showing in the Google Search Console.
Do you see any crawl errors or other messages in Google Search Console that offer clues? Also worth noting is that Google does not crawl (scan) your site right away when registering the domain with them. They have been known to take several weeks, so they could still be in the process of indexing the site. This is especially true when you have a new website, which is the case here.
Regardless, it may be a good idea to try Google Search Console support to see if any experts on that end can offer help in understanding your search issue: https://support.google.com/webmasters.
Related to this issue, I noted that your site appears to be a collection of “blog posts,” but you do not actually seem to be using your blog, but have created pages that appear like blog posts. However, Google has been known to rank blog posts more highly than pages, so if I can make one suggestion, it might be best to publish your content as blog posts going forward to see if that helps.
Hope that helps. Please let us know if you have any more questions.

Thanks for your response! A few days after submitting this questions, Google alerted me that me that they had begun to collect Search impressions for my site.
That being said, only two out of my 60+ pages are indexed by Google – my home page and this page: https://dannymercuriohikesthewhites.wordpress.com/the-uphill-battle-of-breaking-into-winter-hiking/
The rest of my pages say “Crawled – not indexed” in the Google Search Console. Should I expect the number of indexed pages to grow over time? Or would it help to “Request Indexing” for each of the URLs on my site?

I would give it some time. Google doesn’t hurry with this stuff, no matter how much we might wish them to.
