Site doesn’t recognize me as the admin

I recently deleted a website (site 1) so I could use the site address on a new website (site 2). But now it says site 2 can’t use the site address from site 1. I assume the address is in limbo with the deleted site 1 which is why I can’t use it anymore. To get around this, I want to just restore site 1 to keep using the site address that I want. But NOW it says I can’t because I’m not the admin. I’m confused because I am the only person who made and had access to site 1. Why am I not the admin for site 1, and is there a way I can still get access to that site address from site 1 that I want to use? Also, if I buy a new domain, will that trump all of this, or is domain and address different?

    Self-declared URL: janefarmersound.wordpress.com

    Hi there,

We were able to restore the site janefarmersound.wordpress.com back to your account.

When a site is deleted, even your status on the site as admin is removed. Reaching out to support is the way to go to restore the site back to your account.

Also, if I buy a new domain, will that trump all of this, or is domain and address different?

No, because every site requires an site URL like example.wordpress.com. If you purchased a new domain before we restored the site, it would either be on a new site of its own or on janefarmersounds.wordpress.com.

Now that janefarmersound.wordpress.com has been restored, you can add a custom domain name to the site. As a requirement however, a paid plan will need to be on the site. More on that can be read at https://wordpress.com/support/why-am-i-still-seeing-wordpress-com-in-my-domain/.

Thank you so much for restoring the site! I’ll be sure to reach out to support next time if I have an issue like this.
