Site doesn't show up after renewing expired domain

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi,

I renewed the domain labomboneradebarco.com yesterday (it had already expired). As of today the domain keeps showing random content (not mine) although the DNS records are well set. ¿Do I have to do something additional in order to recover my domain?

    Thank you.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Non-WordPress.com Nameservers
Although blog.labomboneradebarco.com has been registered, it is not using WordPress.com nameservers. If your domain is mapped to a self-hosted site, then your configuration may be fine as currently set up. If you wish to host your site at WordPress.com, you will need to update your nameservers as outlined below.
We require that your name server configuration include only the following servers or their numeric equivalents:

    NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
    NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
    NS3.WORDPRESS.COM

Thank you. Does this mean that someone else already registered the domain before I renewed it? Is this possible despite of me renewing it at https://wordpress.com/my-domains/ yesterday? Is there anything I can do to recover it from Layered Technologies Inc.?

You need to change the “nameservers”

    Thank you.

    I need the domain labomboneradebarco.com to be directed to a non-wordpress.com site that’s why I put “A labomboneradebarco.com redirects to 91.240.109.2”

The subdomain blog.labomboneradebarco.com I need to be the alias of labomboneradebarco.worspress.com.

This configutation worked fine until before the domain got expired.

I am afraid I don’t understand where I actually need to indicate the WordPress.com nameservers you mention (as I want the domain to be directed to 91.240.109.2.)

    Thank you for your patience.

Did you read the document I gave you?
    https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/#2-update-your-dns

    2. Update your DNS

Log in to your account at your domain registrar, and replace any existing name servers with these three domain name server (DNS) addresses:

    NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
    NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
    NS3.WORDPRESS.COM
This step must be completed with the company you purchased your domain from. You can contact the support department at your domain registrar for help if necessary.

Mmmm… but my domain registrar is WordPress.com. That’s why I am asking here :)

Update: at wordpress.com/my-domains, when trying to change DNS addresses I realize that I don’t have the tab “Name servers” which lets you do that. I only have “Email” and “Edit DNS”.

I repeat: I registered the domain with WordPress and don’t have and have never had any other domain registrar.

    Thank you.

    Hi there!

The domain, labomboneradebarco.com, expired and entered into the redemption process. You can read more on that process here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/domain-expiration/#redemption-period.

During the redemption period, your domain was purchased at auction by another person, and it is not possible to get it back at this point. You can see the public whois information here: http://www.whois.com/whois/labomboneradebarco.com

Your site content is still safe and can be accessed here: https://labomboneradebarco.wordpress.com/. I have removed the domain and subdomain from your account and issued a refund of the charges.

If you would like to register a new domain name, you can do so by going to https://wordpress.com/my-domains and clicking on Register A New Domain.

If you have any additional questions, please let me know.

Thank you very much, you have answered all my questions. We will buy a new domain name then.
