  I bought a domain but still need to pay charges for connecting with WordPress, why?

  Buying a domain and hosting that domain on the servers of a company are two different things. If you purchased your domain elsewhere and wished to build a site at the same place then you’d need to pay them to host the site.
  Likewise to connect a domain to a WordPress.com site here requires a Pro plan to be purchased.
