Site / Domain Hosting Transfer / New Site Questions – HELP

    My website and domain are currently hosted with Wix.
    I would like to build a new website on WordPress (using the Elementor plugin).
    I would like to keep my current domain name as is – but unsure if I can start using paid plans/features on WordPress unless I’ve transferred my domain hosting elsewhere … so I’m kind of stuck with what to do first/how to do it.

    I don’t have a site with WordPress.com yet

    Hi there,

    All sites on WordPress.com get a free WordPress.com subdomain when the site is created, which functions just like any regular subdomain, and your site is fully online and accessible at that subdomain.

    So you can experiment and build your site at that free address, even upgrade the site while still using the free address, and only switch the domain over to us once you’re ready to launch the site.

    Also, you mentioned using the Elementor plugin for building your site. For that, you’ll need to upgrade to the Business or eCommerce plan. Those are the plans that allow the installation of plugins and third-party themes. If you’re interested, you can quickly upgrade below.
