Site down
-
Hi, my domain expired without my knowledge– but I’ve now managed to renew it. However, I can’t get the site back up again (all built through WordPress) – is it gone for good???

What is the URL of the site you are trying to renew? We’ll be happy to take a look and see if we can help.

It looks like your site is not hosted with WordPress.com. It is a site using the open-source WordPress software (from WordPress.org) but hosted elsewhere.
Because WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two entirely separate entities, we cannot access files or data for sites that are hosted elsewhere, so WordPress.com staff can only assist with sites that are hosted on our servers.
You can find more information here about the differences between WordPress.org software and WordPress.com: https://wordpress.com/support/com-vs-org/
The WordPress.org forums are a great resource for sites using the open source WordPress.org software, and you can find support for that at: https://wordpress.org/support/forum/how-to-and-troubleshooting
You can also reach out to your host for help with this. Since they’re hosting your site’s files, they also have access to those files and could also be able to help you here.

Hi,
I’ve double checked and my account is with WordPress.com – I have a log in and can see my site there — Would you mind checking?

Your site is connected to WordPress.com by way of the Jetpack plugin, allowing you to use built-in WordPress.com features, but it is not hosted by WordPress.com.
That is a self-hosted WordPress.org site, which we really can’t help with here.
To clear up any confusion, WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two different entities: https://wordpress.com/support/com-vs-org/
WordPress.org has complete documentation for self-hosted/installed versions of WordPress.org at https://wordpress.org/support/ and support at https://wordpress.org/support/forums/
Your hosting provider’s support may be able to help too.
