Site Down – Tried to update after a year off

Guys thanks for keeping up with this awesome community. I think I may have screw my website up – , and I would really appreciate if you can help me with it.

I’m using WordPress version: 4.2.2. ( by April 2016) or tried to update to this after a year of not using the webiste.
    Theme Used: Newspaper by TagDiv

I did this: logged in after a year, the website seemed to work fine. tried to log in via wp-admin and wp-login, but kept getting an error ( a typical one as I learned a few days later) so I followed some instructions as per here: http://wordpress.stackexchange.com/questions/208878/login-page-error-cookies-are-blocked-due-to-unexpected-output
None of the suggested solutions worked, so I tried to update WordPress Core via FTP.

At this point I cant access the wp-admin of my website – only the file on ftp. I have a back up which I tried to upload but doesn’t seems to work.

    My website is: openbimer.com
My site is hosted with: regiseratcost.com

I really don’t mind rebuilding my website if necessary – but need advice on how to recover the posts, comments and other necessary info.

Is there a way to do a ‘clean start’ and somehow manually recycle the contents?

Thank you for taking your time out to help. I really really appreciate it

    Hi,

It appears that your question is related to a self-hosted WordPress blog.

Hopefully, you can reach the community of WordPress.org users on WordPress.org support forums (http://wordpress.org/support/) where you will certainly find an answer to your question.

Don’t forget to search through the forums before posting your question, there is a good chance your reply is already there waiting for you!

    Happy blogging!
