site down (white screen)
-
For the past few days, I have been receiving messages from Jetpack that my site has been sporadically offline for up to an hour at a time. Yesterday (March 21), I decided to take a look and decided to update some of my plugins. That’s when everything went away! The screen went white which has never happened before and I can’t get in to admin. Now when I click on on the url I get a message: ‘THIS PAGE ISN’T WORKING RIGHT NOW’ HTTP error 500. What is going on? I am the admin for my site but I can’t get in to deactivate the plugins which I updated and apparently have caused the problem. Thank you for your help.

Hey there,
Many thanks for reaching out.
I too can see this 500 error. This means there’s something isn’t loading in the site, and stopping the site to load.
This sit is not hosted with WordPress.com, so our support is limited in this instance.
To explain, there’s two types of WordPress. The first is WordPress.com, where we provide daily backups, automatic updates, a 24/7 support service and an optimised version of WordPress. The second is self-hosted WordPress, where the free open source version of the software is installed onto a server.
More on the differences can be found here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
It’s possible to migrate the site over to WordPress using our migration plugin: https://wordpress.org/plugins/wpcom-migration/ and the site would need to be on the business plan.
I hope this helps.
