  I’ve customized/connected my wordpress with another existing website and am finding that anyone including myself can no longer access the site since I made the switch. Would there be many way to remove the customization and return back to the original wordpress address?

  You need:
  a) buy the domain mapping upgrade.
  b) change the nameservers
