Site error because of change in .htaccess file
-
I recently was editing the files for the site for a client and I accidently saved some text on .htaccess file of the website which is why the site has a 500 internal server error. Is this something I can get fixed as soon as possible so that the site can be back up as soon as possible?

Hi There,
Could you please share the website URL for which you need assistance?
Please note, this forum is dedicated to the websites hosted on WordPress.com.
If your website is using the self-hosted version of WordPress then you can check with your hosting provider to backup the site. Also, you can follow the below guide for troubleshooting the internal server error for the corrupted .htaccess file:-https://www.wpbeginner.com/wp-tutorials/how-to-fix-the-internal-server-error-in-wordpress/

Hi @lawrenceobioma7a8bf455e0,
@divyaab is right. :)Please know more here about the differences between WordPress.com vs WordPress.org https://wordpress.com/support/com-vs-org/
However, there are similar problems raised as your thread https://wordpress.org/support/topic/500-error-after-editing-htaccess/
Hope it will help you. Else, it’s best to ask the hosting provider support team if they have backup of your website so that they will be able to recover your website. Thanks
