  Under appearance I do not get the menu option. How do I fix that?

  Hi @campbellthinks,

  Would I be right in assuming that under appearance you see Themes, Editor (beta), Customize, and Additional CSS?

  If so, your site/theme is running the new Full Site Editing. If you select the Customize option, you can then customize a variety of site components, including the menus.
