site hacked through comments

  • Unknown's avatar

I could not log into my site today so I realized something was up. I also had an “approve comment” email from WordPress. I did not approve the comment but did click on the sender’s name to see if it was legitimate. It sent me to the front page of the New York Times, which was suspicious. I changed my password but wonder if there is something else I should do. In fact, I had two comments yesterday. Both IP addresses checked out as common spam addresses. Could you tell me if my site is still infected? My traffic has been down slightly, but this may be for other reasons.

    Thanks for your help.

We had a brief glitch that caused users to get redirected to the Blogs I Follow page rather than their Dashboard. That has been resolved, and you should be able to log in as normal now. Please clear your browser cache and WordPress.com cookies if you still have difficulty logging in.

Yes, I noticed things went well today. I wonder if the switch over to the new WordPress version caused this and affected site statistics in some way.

    Thanks for your help.
