Site host name does not match your SSL certificate
-
One of my users (an admin) just got this email (see below) from Google and he’s a little worried. Is this just the HTTPS issue I’ve seen mentioned or is there something more I should be worried about?
Thanks Luke

Site host name, https://swordsoftruth.com, does not match your SSL certificate Subject Name
We have noticed that the host name of your site, https://swordsoftruth.com, does not match any of the “Subject Names” in your SSL certificate, which were:
*.wordpress.com
wordpress.com
As a result, many web browsers will block users from accessing your site, or display a security warning message when your site is accessed.Recommended action
To correct this problem, please get a new SSL certificate by a Certificate Authority (CA) with a “Subject Name” or “Subject Alternative DNS Names” that matches your host name.

This is a known issue because WordPress.com does not support SSL for mapped domains. It’s nothing to worry about.

I started receiving exactly the same email from Google, one yesterday, another today for my http://micksmuses.com site which is a mapped WordPress.com site.
The last do not worry about it message has left me slightly confused as something has obviously suddenly triggered off these Google messages. If I do not worry about it does this mean the messages will stop or I have to ignore what might become a deluge of messages coming from Google?
Is there likely to be a fix to this problem?

Google keep sending this email to me as well. Since Yesterday I’ve got 3… I have no idea what to do about it and I am not sure I should not worry about it.
Anyway I’ve visited my wordpress blog in 2 different browsers and it was all working fine.
Is there anything I can do?
Thanks.

Its happening to me too.
Surely Google wouldn’t send out this stuff if there wasn’t an issue.
What is WordPress going to do about it?

It is because your domain is not included in the cert. try instead adding your site to webmaster tools with the http:// then Google should not check the https version.

I’ve just posted a sticky post in the forums addressing this issue in more detail:

@Jackiedana – this doesn’t address the issue I’m afraid. It’s the email from Google about my blog not error messages when visiting the site. I also notice that my blog has a triangle with an exclamation mark next to the url now indicating that my site doesn’t supply identity information.
This is all very worrying – please help me rectify. -
I’ve added a note about Google Webmaster tools to the post I linked previously, and that should resolve your issue. If not, please post a link to the site in question and I can take a look.
