Site icon

    Hi there,

(I’ve noticed that ‘Site Icon’ (favicon) moved to ‘Customize’ from ‘Settings > General’.)
My icons are seen in my Speed Dial (Firefox add-on) automatically when I created a dial.

But recently I changed the domain name of one of my blogs and the icon deleted on the blog and disappeared in browsers. Then I uploaded it in ‘Customize > Site Identity’.
It is seen now in browsers, but the Speed Dial cannot retrieve the icon automatically as usual when a new dial created or that dial updated.

    What may cause this?

    Thank you!

  • Howdy –

There are several sites on this account. Can you let me know which one you’re working on?

If the image works in browsers but not in Speed Dial, it sounds to me like Speed Dial may have its own cache for that image, and that may need to be cleared. I wasn’t able to find such a setting in mine — in fact, mine for chrome doesn’t show favicons at all.

You might just try clearing the browser cache to see if that helps. Want to give that a go?

    Dear supernovia, and Liz,

First of all, I should express my sincere thanks for all the WP.com staff out there. You are always so meticulous and prompt.

I am very pleased that my blogs are hosted on WP.com.

I swear I didn’t do anything, but I noticed just now that the icon appears as it’s supposed to be. :))))) A miracle!

  • Oh good, it’s likely just their cache refreshing then. Glad you’re all set, and I’ll be sure to pass along your thanks to Liz and the others, too. Cheers!
