Site icon different on different pages and still not refreshing after 4 days

  Hello, and thanks in advance for any assistance.

  Apparently when you share a page on Facebook it displays a rectangular image, but WordPress’ site icon feature only allows for a square image, so I’m trying to find a work-around with various plugins. To experiment in this regard I need to see what my current icon is in real-time, so that I can see what works well and what doesn’t, yet on some pages of my site when I share the page on Facebook I’m still seeing a site icon that was removed and deleted 4+ days ago. Also strange is that depending on which page of my website I try to share on Facebook I’ll see different site icons of varying degrees of oldness.

  When I share this page for instance then I still see a site icon that’s 4+ days old (a space image of a spiral galaxy). If I share this page then I see a site icon that’s 2+ days old (some words in red font on a black background). On this page I see a site icon that I deleted yesterday (a logo and my site’s name in large red letters). In no case do I see what my site icon is supposed to be, which is nothing since I don’t have anything selected as my site icon currently.

  Note that this problem occurs when I attempt to share a page via the Sassy Social Share plugin in a sidebar widget, but the same thing also occurs when I copy the page link and paste it into the timeline of my own personal Facebook page, so it doesn’t appear to be a plugin issue. Sharing a page on Google+ via that same plugin sometimes displays a slightly old site icon image too, but in general for Google+ it tends to refresh a lot more quickly (though not perfectly).

  In case it’s relevant, I manage my site favicon with the RealFaviconGenerator plugin, but I never see the site favicon where the site icon is supposed to be and the site icon problems were occurring one or two days before this plugin was installed (the site is only about 6 days old), so I don’t think this plugin is related to the problem.

  I’ve cleared my browser cache, and my WordPress version and all plugins are up-to-date. I can confirm the problem across more than one computer.

  PS – If anyone can suggest a plugin that will make page shares on Facebook always use one single dedicated site icon regardless of what images may be present in the page content, and allow me to upload a site icon that’s rectangular rather than square so that the whole thing is properly visible, that would be wonderful!
