Site icon not updating when shared.

    I have just changed by site icon which correctly appears when I open up my site on a new tab. However, only my old site icon is appearing when I share my URL. Is there a reason why this isn’t updating? How can I get my new site icon to appear when I share my URL on social media? Thanks in advance!

    Hello. It is possible that you may have to clear your browsing data in order for the new icon to show up.

    Hopefully that will do the trick!

    I am having this same issue and clearing the browser cache did not fix it. Any other tips?

    However, I can suggest you some pointers that will help you in your query.

    Pointers:

    The issue you are facing may be related to cache. You would need to:

    1. Clear your browser cache.
    2. Clear you website cache (by deleting the cache stored by the Cache plugins that you may be using. All the cache plugins have an option to delete cache.
    3. You can also request Siteground to delete the server side cache (Varnish) of your site stored at their servers.
    4. Delete the icon and upload it again to your website.

    As your website is hosted with WordPress.com you may follow the following steps:

    1. You can start with removing the browser cache issues. Check the following official links that will explain you regarding the browser related issue https://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/ & https://en.support.wordpress.com/how-to-clear-your-cache-in-safari/

    2. If you are on business plan and have installed third-party cache plugins, then you can remove the cache by selecting the “Delete Cache” option in the plugins menu.

    3. Once you remove the cache, delete and re-upload the icon image.
