Is the site you have the XML export file from still online?

If yes, what is the URL?

If the file is large you may have to import Posts, Pages, etc. in separate files. Or if the file is very large Staff may have to do the import.

No it isn’t… I only have the export file. Ok thank you… I don’t see the subscribe to topics link, maybe add this topic to your favorites?

    Thank you so much

That will do for now. Know that Staff work their way through support threads in datestamp order and be patient while waiting please.

  • Hi @jodieljaimes, can you remove any unmoderated and spam comments, and then try making your export once more?

If it is still larger than 15MB, we can run it through a splitter for you. Let us know!

Hi @supernova I cannot export my site anymore as I my WP engine account closed… all I truly desire from the export is my blog posts is there a way to do this?

The file is 813 MB it’s huge and I don’t know what to do or where to start with all the files

Thank you so much for your help and patience

  • @jodieljaimes that is huge. What type of file is it? And were you using these instructions?

If the account is closed already you won’t be able to pull in images, so if that’s important to you I’d recommend asking to see if they can restore a backup temporarily for you.

@supernovia When I was closing my account the team at WP Engine guided me to export a backup of my site which is the zip file I have… and to take the following actions…

Here is the suggested workflow for copying your WP Engine site to another environment:

Create a backup within the my.wpengine.com User Portal – instructions are available here. Once the backup is completed, select the backup from the list and click “Download Zip”.
Once you receive the Zip file via email, you will open the file and delete the following
    wp-content/mu-plugins/mu-plugin.php
    wp-content/mu-plugins/wpengine-common/
    wp-content/advanced-cache.php
    wp-content/object-cache.php
    _wpeprivate/
Upload the rest of the files to your other environment
Import the database found in wp-content/mysql.sql from the zip file, to your other environment
Replace wp-config.php with the default WordPress template located here, and include your new database credentials
After that, your site should be up and running on your new environment!

****I’m not concerned with pages or images really but rather the written blog posts is what i’m most after… any suggestions would be greatly appreciated… Thank you so much.

  • Got it, yeah those instructions are for moving to another self-hosted site.

For WordPress.com you’d want to use these:

    I’ll email with some ideas.
