Site is not displaying in “My Site”

I am the administrator on a Premium account that had 2 sites under the My Site list. One was the generic domain.wordpress.com and the other was the site linked to the custom domain (registered with GoDaddy) and transferred over to WordPress for use on the new website during the initial purchase. I launched the site with the custom domain last fall and haven’t logged in in a few months.

Today when I logged in, the site with the custom domain isn’t showing up in the admin panel under My Site. I have previously logged in using Doulababyonline.wordpress.com/wp-admin and seen both domains available in My Site list.

    Generic domain: doulababyonline.wordpress.com

    Custom domain: doulababyonline.com

The custom domain site is live and still functional, I just cannot access the backend. If I go Incognito, I receive an error that says “You are logged in as “user name” and do not have necessary permissions to access the dashboard for Doula Baby!” even if I haven’t signed in at all.

Final oddity – the account is now showing only as a FREE account rather than a PREMIUM account although it was prepaid for the entire year.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Point of clarification: If I try to login to the custom domain in Incognito (doulababyonline.com/wp-admin) I receive the error “You are logged in as “user name” and do not have necessary permissions to access the dashboard for Doula Baby!”.

I am able to log into the Doulababyonline.wordpress.com/wp-admin without issue in Incognito.

I am wondering if somehow a second account got created when I launched the site linked to the custom domain?

    Hey there

I am able to log into the Doulababyonline.wordpress.com/wp-admin without issue in Incognito.

I am wondering if somehow a second account got created when I launched the site linked to the custom domain?

The date of the custom domain and the creation of @mdgreene82 don’t seem to match up, but I agree the issue is that you’ve got more than one account.

Since it works when you use incognito, can you try logging out in your normal browser, then logging back in? Be sure to change out the username if one is already saved there. If needed, you could even delete the cookie for WordPress.com, but I expect logging out will be enough.

Once you’re logged into the right account, you should be able to access the site. Please let us know if you need more help with this!

The issue is that I don’t actually HAVE a second account. I have only ever had one WordPress account. I used these same access credentials to build the site and link the custom domain that I launched (doulababyonline.com). I used to be able to toggle between the two sites (non-custom and custom domains) while logged into the same admin account page.

I am an authorized admin and built the site, but the account owner who paid for the Premium subscription is experiencing the same issue. She cannot see the Premium account features that she paid for or the site with the linked custom domain using the same credential she created when she signed up for her account.

    Hi there!

I see there are two accounts, but you mentioned there’s an account owner, so we were looking at the other account that belongs to the account owner. Based on what I’ve found so far, your WordPress.com account mdgreene82 was only invited to the WordPress.com site at https://doulababyonline.wordpress.com. The paid site at doulababyonline.com does not have any other administrators. Only the site owner has access to it.

I went back several months of logs for the paid site, and I don’t see your mdgreene82 account was ever added to it. The only explanation for that would be this: You were logged into the account owner’s account. Because only that account has access to both the free and paid sites. This account, mdgreene82 only ever had access to https://doulababyonline.wordpress.com.

So from here, the are two potential solutions:

    1. Ask the site owner to send you an invite to the paid site at doulababyonline.com. Here are the instructions you can share with them: https://en.support.wordpress.com/invite-people/
    2. Alternatively, if the account owner still shares the account details with you, you can log into their account and have access to both of them. This is less preferred, though.

    Hope that helps!
