Site is not reachable in Reader

I can’t see my site in Reader after posting four days ago. I use tags Combat! (exclamation point okay) and World War II. It’s storiesofcombat.wordpress.com. I’ve had no views yet. Thanks.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I would just like to pull it up like my other site, but it’s not coming up.

  • Hi there,

I can see your most recent post on that site for both the combat tag and the world-war-ii tag:

    https://wordpress.com/tag/combat?at=2021-12-19T01:09:55Z

    https://wordpress.com/tag/world-war-ii?at=2021-12-19T01:09:55Z

    I’ve had no views yet.

That doesn’t mean the posts aren’t appearing in the Reader. People might just not be searching for those particular tags at present, and even if they do, there’s no guarantee they’ll click through to your specific posts.

Blog traffic also decreases generally this time of year as people focus on the holidays, so I wouldn’t worry about this too much right now.

Views will start picking up over time as you add new content and start getting indexed by search engines. We also have some tips you can use to increase traffic to your site here:

I look for my Combat! stories site in Reader under these tags, Combat and World War II, but it still does not appear, at least for me.

How did you get the links? Are they far down the list? Or what?

Why am I not seeing them? Thanks!

  • Are you using the Search field at the top of the page, or the tag search in the Reader sidebar?

The Search field doesn’t care about tags and categories, so you won’t find your posts there if you search for them by tag. That search returns results based on the title, content, and popularity (number of likes and comments) of a post.

For tag search, click on Tags in the Reader sidebar on the left, and type in the tag you want to look for. If you type in combat (tags don’t include punctuation), your post appears if you scroll down to (at the moment) the 5-day mark, as that’s how long ago you published the post:

    https://wordpress.com/tag/combat

The link I shared above just includes a timestamp which takes you directly to that point in the feed. That’s why that specific link shows your post at the top.

I’m trying to pull up the blog like any other reader. When I type in Rat Patrol, my other site, in the top search bar, it takes me to all my posts on that topic. If, however, I type in combat, it does not show my blog. My readers are limited to the top search bar.

If I can’t pull up the blog from the search bar, then neither can my readers. Like I do, a reader pulls up zilch.

In short, I’m trying to find it as an Ordinary Reader. Does an Ordinary Reader see it if it doesn’t come up in the search bar?

    Thanks!

If I go to tags, and hit combat, my blog doesn’t come up there, either. So it doesn’t come up in the search bar, or in tags. I don’t know how you’re seeing it. A Ordinary Reader can’t find it.

  • When I type in Rat Patrol, my other site, in the top search bar, it takes me to all my posts on that topic. If, however, I type in combat, it does not show my blog. My readers are limited to the top search bar.

Rat Patrol is more specific and more unique than combat, so it’s rather expected that the other site will show in the top results.
Visitors are not limited to the top search bar, though. Any user can search for tags. From personal experience, though, if you want to reach out to more people and build your audience, I’d recommend focusing on sharing your posts to social media:
