    Layout issue is fixed.
But I need help with a good theme selection,I am using Modern Business theme as of now.
    My requirement is simple-
One Home Page-static with some information about myself & a picture
One Contact form page or on the home page itself
One Page with corresponding menu for Research Work- would like to upload media files, pdf files on this page for visitors to refer by clicking on the document & being able to open it
    One menu for external links

    Kindly help.
    Warm regards-Venu

    Hi Venu,

One Home Page-static with some information about myself & a picture

That can be done by selecting a static homepage in My Sites > Design > Customise > Homepage Settings. Text about you and an image can be added to that page as part of the content.

One Contact form page or on the home page itself

The form block can be used for adding forms to specific pages:

would like to upload media files, pdf files on this page for visitors to refer by clicking on the document & being able to open it

These files can be uploaded to your Media Library. If you add links to the uploaded files on posts or pages, visitors can then view them. Custom plugins (supported on the Business plan and above) would be needed in order to add any file viewing functionality beyond that though.

    One menu for external links

The Modern Business theme supports drop down menus. You could add “External links” to the menu from My Site > Design > Customise > Menus, then drag any links you want to add underneath to form a drop down menu:

    Menus

    I hope this helps.

    Hey Gemma,

Thanks for everything & your kind explanation.
However, what you have described may be easy for experts like you, but not easy for me, seems like quite a bit of work!
Building home page like what you have mentioned is tough, requires design skills, I am looking for plug & play.
Let me ask you a two-part question.

First, is there a way to just copy an existing theme & replace just the content from the existing pages, like inserting my pdf documents over the existing media files on the home page? In such a case, I will re-do the home page, substituting existing pictures, files etc with my content without too much customizing work.
e,g- Modern Business theme- I just replace the content(pictures, text) from their demo.
Currently my site does not look like the demo Modern theme.
    Kindly help.

    Warm Regards Venu

  • Hi there,

There’s no way to automatically replicate a theme’s demo site. However, if you read the theme’s setup instructions as well as how to use the WordPress editor you’ll be able to replicate the theme’s demo look.

Here are the theme’s setup instructions:

and here’s how to use the WordPress editor:
