Site Loads Slowly

  My site often takes several seconds to load.
  I have already done the following to minimize load times:
  1)Made sure image files are under 100kb.
  2)Reduced number of widgets insidebar.
  3)Used “read more” feature for all posts so they don’t display in entirety.
  Yet the site still loads slowly. The only think I can think about is the front page still displays all posts, even though I set the Reading setting for: Settings >
  ReadingBlog pages
  show at most 3 posts
  “save changes”
  The front page still displays my 6 posts to date.

  Yes, I have cleared my cache.

  Any help is much appreciated. Thanks to all.
