  I need to know how to change the logo from a wordpress one to my own (the logo beside my site URL on the search bar)

  You are looking for what WordPress.com calls a “Blavatar.”
  Here is how to do it:
  http://en.support.wordpress.com/avatars/blavatars/

  note: it can take several hours for it to propagate through the servers, so don’t be surprised when it doesn’t show up immediately.
