Site Migration
-
I have setup a test site. It is totally configured the way I want it. I want to now redirect my domain (christumchurch.org) to this new website I have designed. What are the steps I need to take. I don’t want to move the domain, because I don’t want to mess with our gmail email accounts. I just want to move the web hosting and purchase an unlimited storage plan from wordpress at the same time.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You’ll first want to purchase your plan from https://wordpress.com/pricing/
Then while you’re checking out, follow these instructions when you tell it you already have your own domain: https://en.support.wordpress.com/map-existing-domain/
And finally follow these instructions to keep your Gmail addresses working with your domain: https://en.support.wordpress.com/add-email-through-g-suite/

Awesome, thank you! This is super helpful. Once I work through all of these steps, how do I copy the test website I have created over to the new one? Or do I have to recreate the whole thing?

You don’t need to copy it anyplace if you don’t want to; when you map your domain everything will start showing up as being christumchurch.org instead of http://christumchurchtest.wordpress.com/
If you do want to copy it to another site and keep this as a place to set things up first and test them then you could follow these instructions to export and then import to another location, like christumchurch.wordpress.com (you’ll still need to have something.wordpress.com underlying your christumchurch.org):
https://en.support.wordpress.com/export/#export-your-content-to-another-blog-or-platform
https://en.support.wordpress.com/import/IMPORTANT: Don’t buy the plan until you have your content set on the location you want to use; the purchases get tied to that specific something.wordpress.com site. So if you buy the plan now, it’s going to be tied to http://christumchurchtest.wordpress.com/
