  Will the domain name need to be advertised with ‘wordpress’ in the url? For example, while I am building the site, it says http://www.abc.worpress.com, instead of abc.com… So which would I use to advertise the site?

  Either URL will direct visitors to your site assuming you have a custom domain set up properly. But if you intend to use a custom domain (abc.com), I would encourage you to use that domain when you are promoting your site.

  During the site setup and plan purchase process, you will have the opportunity to register a domain, if you do not already have one. If you have a domain registered elsewhere that you would like to use, here is a support document that will explain how to set up Domain Mapping with your domain:
