Site Name Panel Obscures Post Title and About
-
There’s a glitch on my Place Oddity blog with panels overlapping and obscuring the “About” as well as the title of my latest post. Any help gratefully received (although please keep in mind my skill level is barely above novice). http://placeoddity.com/2014/05/09/swimming-at-the-north-pole-by-john-borthwick/
Thanks, David

Hi David,
That’s an amazing story you have on that blog post!
With that said, what browser were you using and if possible, can you make a screenshot displaying the issue? I’m checking with Chrome on a Mac and everything looks fine from here.

Thanks. I’m using Firefox. I opened it in IE and it looks fine except for (and this is the same with the Firefox format) that the photo that introduces the Place Oddity page has gone. If you click on About, you’ll see the photo at the top of the page; it’s the same one. Anyway, here’s a screenshot of Firefox page – many thanks – David

Sorry, Hafizr, here’s the correct screenshot. As you’ll notice, the photo that should be at the top of the Place Oddity page (same photo as on the About page) has disappeared. The placement of this page – the Place Oddity title obscures the title of the post – is on the standalone page for this post – it floats a little differently when it’s the scrolling page. Thanks – David.

Hi there,
First of all your link couldn’t work for me because it links to inside your admin area (which I don’t have access to, of course).
However I manage to find the image you’re attaching, and the issue could be because your current site header image is missing. Try to fix that one and see if it corrects thing.

Thanks so much, Hafizr. All solved. However, there’s another problem connected with this site or should I begin a new thread? Anyway, when I originally established this blog I ingeniously managed to create the URL http://www.dotplaceodditydotcom.wordpress.com. A few days ago I changed the URL to a far better http://www.placeoddity.com (not sure how I did this). Anyway, how do I get rid of the original site (it shows up two Place Odditys under my name in the top right hand corner of the screen) as I’ve transferred everything to the second? Thanks again.

Perhaps you bought a Custom Domain from WordPress?

While there is a way to delete a blog, I’m not quite sure about your setup and my advice for this kind of thing is, if you have a blog currently unused, leave it be. The thing is that deleting a blog on WordPress is final, meaning that you can’t re-open it again, and nobody can use the WordPress domain name again. So, just to be on the safe side, I’d say keep the blog there.

No, I didn’t pay for anything new. There was some way of changing the URL in the Dashboard; ever since I first established Place Oddity and screwed up the domain, I’ve been trying to change it. This time I did it by pure accident but I’ll take your advice and not fool around any further. Thanks for all your help.
