Site not loading properly

  • Unknown's avatar

Hi, my blog has been taking ages to load for a few days now, the images seem to be the biggest problem. Do you have any idea what might be causing this?

    Thanks.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

It loads pretty quickly for me even on my slow wireless internet service. I would however suggest going to settings > reading and set your site to show at most 5 posts per page. That will help to keep the number of images per page down to a reasonable number and should considerably speed up page loading times.

If you get more image heavy in posts, I might even suggest dropping back to 3 posts per page.

Thanks, that has helped. I had a problem the other day when editing a post, my images wouldn’t appear in my gallery and I thought this my be related. Still not sure what happened there.

Sometimes it can just be server loads that slow things down, or perhaps some server maintenance going on, or your ISP is overly busy, or even an overloaded internet trunk between you and wordpress. There are literally dozens, if not tens of dozens of things that can cause slowdowns.

The internet, she is sometimes fickle.

I thought this was better but its not, my blog still takes minutes to load on my home laptop, all other websites load normally in seconds, Seems just to be affecting my blog and wordpress. Very odd.

How are you connecting to the internet and to WordPress.com? The way you connect to the internet (mobile, satellite, DSL, dial-up) and to your blog, and how many proxy server jumps etc. it takes to connect can cause problems. There maybe be problems with your ISP and/or with the proxy servers.

Are you using http:// or https:// see http://en.support.wordpress.com/https/

Which browser and version of it are you using? Have your tried clearing your browser cache and cookies? http://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clear-your-cache-and-cookies

Is your browser version up to date? You can upgrade any browser version here.

Do you have third party cookies enabled? Do you have another browser you can try?

You can use this link to see if your Flash is up to date. http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/ If it’s not up to date then this is where to download and install the latest version of Flash. http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/

Sometimes operating system and/or security system updates can cause problems so check for known issues. When you make adjustments to your browser settings — changing privacy settings, deleting cookies or increasing security — you will need to close your window and restart the browser before those new settings become effective.

Using Same Firefox as you, AV scan done Sunday. Cookies enabled, cache cleared. Have tried http and https. Have tried ie and have same problem, it seems to be the images not loading. Also in wordpress/media my images take ages to show.

Hmmm … :( You will have to contact Staff. Here’s the link http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/ After you use the searchbox, under the search results, at the bottom of the page there will be a section that says “Have you found the answer to your question?” You can choose either “Yes I found the answer to my question.” or “No I didn’t find the answer to my question and I would like to contact support for help.” The no option will reveal the contact form.
