Site not validated by Google

I’ve tried verifying my site through Google a few times, and neither the ‘post a page & include the html tag in the title’ OR the ‘go to dashboard, tools, then enter meta tag’ options work…. I’ve scrolled through the forums but beyond these options no one seems to have a reason why it might not be working for me. Please help!

I used the instructions found in the support documentation and they worked for me http://en.support.wordpress.com/webmaster-tools/
Please describe in step-by-step fashion exactly what you did and what happened and perhaps on of us Volunteers will be able to help you.

Hi – thanks… I’ve literally followed those instructions step by step and when I click on verify (after entering the meta tag in the google Webmaster field under ‘tool’s), this is the message I get:
Verification failed. We couldn’t find the verification meta tag.
It’s really frustrating!

I am having the same problem. I googled for info but everyone seems to be explaining where to plug in their meta tag, not how to find it if google fails.
