Site on works when cache is cleared, and then only one time

I have control of a site that is/was very out of date with WordPress 5.4.16. After updating to 6.7 the site worked perfectly for about 75% of user, but the other 25% would have to clear the cache in order to get anything on the site to load. But, it would only work during that session, and even if you did nothing on the site you couldn’t open a new home page to the home address.

I tried trouble-shooting by deactivating a few plugins that dealt with compressing code (Prevent Browser Caching 2.3.2, FastVelocityMinify 2.8.9) and deleted a couple of Youtube, 3D flipbook, and video pop-up plugins (they have zero video on their site).

I realize this is not a lot of go on, but I’m hoping the pros here can point me to a process of debugging a clone site that I’ll upgrade again (I backed to 5.4.16). I’m not a coder. Any help is appreciated.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Typo… site ONLY works once. And the real site is http://www.aelnow.com.

  • Hi,

The site you mentioned is not hosted here at WordPress.com, so we’re not able to offer any assistance. You’ll need to contact your current host, which appears to be GoDaddy.

That said, the best advice is going to be to upgrade to the latest version of WordPress, and then upgrade all your plugins to their latest versions. With such an old version of WordPress, you may hit a couple of bumps along the way, but it’s likely to be less time-consuming in the long run.
