re: renewing upgrades
Companies, organizations and groups of any kind do not own sites. Each site has a sole owner and it is the person with the username account who registered the site under their username account and associated email address and purchased upgrades for the site.
You have to be logged in as Admin http://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/#administrator under the exact same username account that registered the blog to access the blog’s dashboard, renew or cancel any upgrades, claim a refund for any qualified upgrades, and disable auto-renew. Managing Domains https://en.support.wordpress.com/manage-purchases/#managing-domains
If you are not logged in under the correct username account clear your browser cache https://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clearing-your-browser-cache and cookies https://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clearing-wordpress-com-cookies and then login under the correct username account.
If you do not have the required access you need to contact the person who registered the account and site under it and have them transfer the sites to your username account by using this process. http://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/#transferring-your-blog-to-another-user-or-account
The owner of the site can transfer the site (and/or upgrades) to another account by adding another username account as an Admin. https://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/#administrator

Hi there,
The domain, sandylanebracknell.com, is not registered with WordPress.com, nor is it hosted with us. There is a domain mapping upgrade for that domain on our system, but the domain is not pointed to us so that upgrade is not actually doing anything.
The site at sandylanebracknell.com is hosted by GoDaddy who is also the registrar for that domain, so you’ll need to contact them if you want access to that site, domain and hosting account. We have no control over that site whatsoever.
If you’re speaking of a different domain, please provide the correct information so we can take a look. But as @timethief correctly said above, only the owner of an upgrade can renew it or transfer it to another user. We cannot make any exceptions in this, as domain ownership is regulated by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), and under their regulations a domain’s ownership can only be transferred with explicit consent from the current owner. So even if we were willing to make an exception to our own policy regarding site and upgrade ownership (we aren’t willing, though), ICANN regulations even further prohibits us from doing anything in a case that involves a domain registered with us.

Hi,
Thanks for the information. Today the website is not loading so the domain mapping must be doing something in wordpress. I know that the domain is registered with GoDaddy. We have tried recovering the owner account as we have enough info to do that but account not recognised. And no-one else can renew this domain mapping? Any suggestions?
Many thanks -
What account are you trying to recover? The domain mapping upgrade for that domain belongs to the username, gemsgj, who also owns the site, so you’ll need to access that account to renew the upgrade.
As an alternative I can remove the mapping upgrade from that account as it has now already expired. Then another admin on the site can add it back as a new upgrade. However, the other admin will be required to first buy a paid plan for the site as we no longer sell the domain mapping upgrade as a single upgrade. Once you’ve added the plan I can then help you manually add the domain mapping upgrade back.
The site itself will still belong to the gemsgj user, though, so if that person is no longer involved with your school, the best long-term solution would still be to get in contact with them to transfer the site and upgrade to another admin, or otherwise to regain access to that account.

Hi, its the gemsgj account I am trying to recover. I have a transaction reference and the related email account but when I use the account recovery form it just says that account is not recognised? Thanks

Please make sure you’re not making any typos when entering the username and site address in the form. Also try submitting the form while logged out of this account/in an incognito browser window.

I’ve tried that and it was accepted eventually but I have not had any recover information come back yet – sent about 4 hours ago.
Can you confirm what paid plan we would need to buy – is it the £36 option?
Thanks for your help.

Account recovery tickets go into our queue and are replied to in the order they come in, but we’ve just replied to yours. Please reply there with the information we requested, and we can help you regain access to the account and you should be able to renew the existing upgrade without needing to buy a plan.
