    am unable to add new categories

    Hi there!

    You can add new categories to posts before you publish them using the Categories module to the right of the post editor under My Site → Blog Posts → Settings (the small wheel icon) and click on Categories & Tags or you can create a new category through My Site → Settings → Writing. In the option to manage categories, click on Add New Category. For more info and details about categories, please have a look at this support guide:

    You also have the option to create category pages for your blog, to display groupings of similar posts on pages other than your front page. This guide will walk you through it:
