Hi there,
I’ve checked your site mcdermottspub.com, and it isn’t currently redirecting to your WordPress.com site, mcdermottspubdoolin.pub.
If you are still experiencing the redirect issue when trying to access the admin page of mcdermottspub.com, it could be due to your browser’s cache. You can find instructions for clearing your browser’s cache here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clearing-your-browser-cache
If clearing your cache doesn’t solve the problem, or if you have any other questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out again. We’re here to help.

hi,
When I try to log into the admin page for http://www.mcdermottspub.com I am redirected to the admin page for http://www.mcdermottspubdoolin.pub. So essentially I am locked out of the admin page for http://www.mcdermottspub.com

I am now locked out of the wp-admin page for http://www.mcdermottspubdoolin.pub.
and http://www.mcdermottspubdoolin.pub is redirecting to http://www.mcdermottspub.com

If I could get you to change the ‘site’ url in the wp-options for (www.mcdermottspubdoolin.pub) back to https://www.mcdermottspubdoolin.pub.
And change the WordPress address (URL) & Site address (URL) in the general settings tab of (www.mcdermottspub.com) I should be able to log back into my two domains admin separately as before. PLease

Apologies for the delay in getting back to you. We handle threads in the order they come in, and each reply effectively resets our workflow. Please know that the delay was unintentional.
The issue you’re facing stems from having both mcdermottspubdoolin.pub and mcdermottspub.com set as domains under the same WordPress.com website. Currently, mcdermottspub.com is set as the primary domain, meaning any traffic directed to mcdermottspubdoolin.pub will automatically redirect to mcdermottspub.com. You can check this on your domain settings page, accessible here: https://wordpress.com/domains/manage/mcdermottspub.com
To resolve this, we require more information from you. When you mention wanting to “log back into my two domains admin separately as before,” which domain should reflect the content currently visible on mcdermottspub.com? It’s worth noting that the site associated with mcdermottspub.com isn’t hosted on WordPress.com, as its domain nameservers are set to
dnsirelandnameservers. If you intend for the WordPress.com hosted site to use the mcdermottspubdoolin.pub domain instead, you’ll need to designate it as the primary domain on the domain settings page linked above. Unfortunately, this is something we can’t do for you. However, if you’re unsure how to proceed, we have a support page that guides you through the necessary steps: https://wordpress.com/support/domains/set-a-primary-address/#how-to-set-a-primary-address
If your goal is different, please provide more details so we can offer tailored advice.
Thank you for your understanding!

Ok. I wish to undo the changes I made in the WP-Admin Dashboard wp-options for my site (mcdermottspubdoolin.pub). I changed the address to a different domain which I am also an administrator of (www.mcdermotts.com ). I want you to undo the changes I made so that the site address is returned to the original settings which were http://www.mcdermottspubdoolin.pub.
My other site http://www.mcdermottspub.com is hosted by a different company which I can address separately.

It’s great to see that you managed to make the change using the instructions provided! To avoid any potential confusion in the future, I suggest removing the domain connection for mcdermottspub.com since it’s a separate website. Here’s how you can do it:
- Go to https://wordpress.com/domains/manage/mcdermottspubdoolin.pub.
- Click on the three-dot menu next to the domain.
- Choose “View settings”.
- On the next page, select the “Delete – Remove this domain connection permanently” option.
That should take care of it! Feel free to reach out if you have any further questions or if there’s anything else we can assist you with.

Hi, Thanks for the reply.
I have done all this as requested but unfortunately I am still unable to log into the /wp-admin for mcdermottspub.com
Each time I try to access http://www.mcdermottspub.com/wp-admin using the credentials for this site admin I am automatically redirected to the admin dashboard for http://www.mcdermottspubdoolin.pub.
This problem started after I mistakenly changed the site address and site url in mcdermotts.com general settings.

It seems like you removed “mcdermottspub.com” from your “mcdermottspubdoolin.pub” site, but you added it to “paudieire.wpcomstaging.com” on the same day. Can you please explain why you added it to a different WordPress.com site?
Regarding the login issue, I managed to resolve it by deleting the domain connection from “paudieire.wpcomstaging.com.” Now, you can access your site’s login page via https://mcdermottspub.com/wp-login.php. It seems that there might be some caching causing a redirect issue when trying to access via /wp-admin. Therefore, please use the /wp-login.php URL to log into your site until the domain updates properly.
I hope this clears things up! Let us know if you have any questions or need further assistance.
