  Do I need to import my old thinktechuk.wordpress.com website files to my self-hosted website thinktechuk.com before doing the site redirect upgrade?

  Hi,

  No, because you do that from your WordPress.com site’s dashboard, exporting before the Site Direct upgrade is not necessary. Many people are used to accessing the dashboard from their WordPress.com site itself, so they find it easier to do so when going to export.

  Thank you for that reply.

  So does the site redirect forward traffic looking for posts on the old wordpress.com site, to the homepage of the new self-hosted site and or does it direct people looking for a post on the old site and then direct traffic to the same post on the new site, once I have exported and then imported all the old posts?

  Site Redirect will point people to individual blog posts at your new location if they use the same permalink structure as they did on your WordPress.com site.
