Site Redirect
-
Okay thank you so much. Can I get a refund for the Site Redirect? I do not want this anymore, and in order to do what I need to do at iPage I need to get rid of the Site Redirect so that they are able to see the contents of my old blog.

Thank you so much! Okay so I am working on transferring everything over. I have set up WordPress as my platform and installed Jetpack. I am currently working on importing my XML files to my new blog, but it is taking a long time because it doesn’t import everything at one time, so I have to got through the process several times. So after I import the XML files I am able to see the pictures it has transferred over. But I don’t see my posts. In my media library though I have a text image that says this “http://thesavedrunner.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/thesavedrunner.wordpress.2014-03-21.xml_5.txt” for its description. I have several of these pages, and I am pretty sure this is a code for all of my texts from my previous posts, but I don’t know how to turn that back into actual posts. Then after all of my xml files have transferred, what’s my next step? Oh and I can’t thank you enough for how much you have helped me!

First thing to do is connect your Jetpack site to your WordPress.com account:
http://wordpress.org/plugins/jetpack/installation/
Next, regarding the issue you’re having with posts:
Could you try to export only posts from your WordPress.com site, and then import only posts into your self-hosted site? Narrow down the data that is downloaded and uploaded. Let me know if that helps.
After that’s done, and the site looks as you wish, let us know and we can migrate your followers and stats for you. Then, you’re all set!

Okay thank you, I was able to transfer all of my pictures, posts, and pages. Now I have downloaded Jetpack, but I can’t install it to my wordpress.com site because when I try it says this:
Your website needs to be publicly accessible to use Jetpack: site_inaccessible Error Details: The Jetpack server was unable to communicate with your site [HTTP 406]. Ask your web host if they allow connections from WordPress.com. If you need further assistance, contact Jetpack Support: http://jetpack.me/support/
To enable all of the Jetpack features you’ll need to connect your website to WordPress.com using the button to the right. Once you’ve made the connection you’ll activate all the delightful features below.
What can I do in order to fix this?
-
To that end, you will have to contact Jetpack support. I don’t have access to all the information needed to troubleshoot this issue. You can contact my Jetpack colleagues here:
http://jetpack.me/contact-support/
Make sure that the short description of your problem contains the term “406 Error.”
To help expedite the issue, I’m also going to pass your issue along as well.
Please stay in touch and let how I can help once you’re connected. You’re almost there!

Okay thank you so much for passing this along. I have already emailed Jetpack with my questions. I have another question for you though. I am working on designing my blog, and I chose the Undiscovered theme. I was hoping I would be able to have a sidebar with my picture and a little short bio, and then then I could have widgets on the sidebar as well. Right now if you look at my blog, thesavedrunner.com, you will see that all of my widgets are at the very bottom of my website. Is there any way to change this to where it will be on the side?
Also, is there a way to add a background image to this blog if I wanted to? For instance, if I wanted the sides to have a chevron pattern instead of just be white.
-
I assume you’re doing the designing on your new server, correct? If so, I no longer have access to it, so I’m not very helpful in that respect.
I did notice that your theme has a support forum that is seems quick with responses:
http://wordpress.org/support/theme/undiscoveredI wish I could be more helpful with this, but once you’re not hosted on WordPress.com, I’m not all that useful. I can help with the migration of your stats and followers, once your Jetpack is connected, however.
-
Oh okay, that is totally fine! You have been a huge help already! Whenever I get Jetpack connected I will let you know so that you can migrate over my stats and followers. Thank you again so much!
-
My pleasure, I enjoyed working with you! Can’t wait to see the site when you’re all set up. Best of luck!

Nice work with Jetpack. I see the live link on your account. Well done!
I do want to confirm before I set the migration in motion: you want me to move all the stats and followers FROM thesavedrunner.wordpress.com TO thesavedrunner.com/. Correct? It seems obvious, but as you do have more than one WordPress.com blog, I wanted to make sure.
Let me know and I’ll get the process rolling. Thanks!
-
Yes I would like for you to move all of the stats and followers from thesavedrunner.wordpress.com to thesavedrunner.com. Thank you so much! Can you please let me know when everything is transferred?
-
Hello!
Your followers have been migrated from your WordPress.com site to your Jetpacked site.
I transferred 108 WordPress.com subscribers and 23 email subscribers. It could take a couple hours for these numbers to appear in your stats, FYI.
Facebook and Twitter followers are not migrated during this transfer!
I also transferred your Site Stats from your WordPress.com site to the new Jetpack site.
Please let me know if you have any other questions. This is exciting — looks like you’re up and running! No pun intended :)

Thank you so so much for all of your help! So is there a way to migrate all of my Facebook and twitter followers?
-
When you were maintaining a WordPress.com-hosted site, the Follow Blog widget included your Twitter & Facebook followers. On your self-hosted site, the widget in Jetpack doesn’t support this.
There is a solution…to display your Facebook & Twitter followers on your self-hosted site, you can use the ‘Share a link’ Twitter button: https://twitter.com/about/resources/buttons#tweet and the Facebook Like Box widget, which is available in Jetpack.
Hope this makes sense!

Great thank you so much! I have another question that I’m not sure if you will be able to help me with. On Tuesday I published a post and my followers received an email, however this morning I published a post and my followers did not receive an email. Can you tell me why this might have happened and if I can do anything to fix it? I really liked my last post and I want my followers to get an email about it.
-
Hello there! Glad to hear you’re up and running.
Did you send the post from your WordPress.com account? If so, I will follow up, and look into the issue. Just send me a link to the post.
If the Post was launched from the self-hosted site, you’ll have to contact WordPress.org support:
However, before you do that, take a look at the following and make certain you’re configured properly:

I hope this helps!
