Site redirect
-
Hi, I am in the process of transferring my blog to a self hosted wordpress.org website, and I cannot figure out how to redirect traffic from my old blog to my new one.
I tried to purchase the “site redirect” upgrade, but when I try to complete the purchase, I get this message: “A domain mapping already exists for that host. You do not need to buy a site redirect if you already have a domain mapping.”
For some reason, people are still visiting and following my old blog, and I really want the redirect message so everyone will know to go to the new site.
I bought my domain name, kookiekrysp.com through wordpress.com, but I just transferred that domain to bluehost because I assumed that was the only way to get it to point to my new site. Of course now I realize that I could have left the domain on wordpress and just pointed it to the new site by changing the name servers, but it’s to late to undo the transfer easily.
Is there some way I can un-map my kookiekrysp.com domain from wordpress.com so I can redirect the traffic to my new site?
I hope I am asking this question in the right place, and I appreciate any help that can be given. Thanks in advance.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Because kookiekrysp.com is not registered at WordPress.com, just mapped here, you do not need Site Redirect (or Domain Mapping for that matter). You just need to go t your domain registrar and update the nameservers for kookiekrysp.com to point to your new webhost.
The only reason to continue paying for domain mapping would be to redirect any traffic going to kookiekrysp.wordpress.com to kookiekrysp.com (and thus to your new site).
Does that make sense?

Thank you for the quick answer!
kookiekrysp.com already points to my new site. What I want is to redirect the traffic that is still going to kookiekrysp.wordpress.com to kookiekrysp.com.
I don’t want to get rid of my wordpress.com hosted site, and I plan to use it in the future, but right now I want to redirect the traffic from kookiekrysp.wordpress.com to my new site. Is there a way to do that?
It seems like traffic to my new site has died down since I asked this question so I may not need to redirect traffic, but I want to know if it is possible just in case.

I’ve got that fixed for you. The issue was that kookiekrysp.com was not set as your WordPress.com’s primary domain. You should now see traffic from kookiekrysp.wordpress.com get redirected to kookiekrysp.com.
