Site Redirect

    We have to redirect URLs from our old wordpress.com (http://example.com/2015/02/05/sample post/) to our new and self hosted wordpress (http://example.com/%category%/%postname%).
    Does ‘Site Redirect’ service work with sites which have different URL taxonomies?

    Site redirect doesn’t support different link structures. It will try to find the corresponding page on your new site, but that’s not guaranteed.

    If the new site you’re redirecting to does not use this permalink structure, the redirect will try to find a post on your new site that matches the post URL from your WordPress.com site, but some visitors may see an error message indicating no matching post could be found.

    You might be able to setup 301 redirects on your new site to mimic the old structure, but that’s outside the wheelhouse of this forum. You might want to try the WordPress.org forums if you need assistance there.
