  I am planning to buy the site redirect feature for my blog so that my viewers are redirected to my self hosted site http://www.makeupxpressions.com. After the purchase should I set my wordpress.com site as private or should I let it be? How will it affect my SEO?

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  After you activate Site Redirect, visitors of your wordpress.com site will end up on your self-hosted site. So essentially your wordpress.com site will be unreachable.

  You don’t have to do anything. It won’t be shown.

  Thank you Chaitanya, the only other question I have is currently when I comment on other people’s blogs on free wordpress.com, they see me as a user of free wordpress too (i.e when they click my name, they get directed to my wordpress.com site). When I use the site direct, and they click my profile, will they be taken to my new self hosted site? Or is it something that is not possible with site redirect at all? please advise.

  With Site Redirect, anyone who is trying to access, makeupxpressions.wordpress.com will be redirected to your self-hosted site.

  If you wish not to display your WordPress.com site when you comment, I suggest you check is what is set as your Primary Blog on this dashboard screen
  https://makeupxpressions.wordpress.com/wp-admin/users.php?page=grofiles-user-settings and change it to self-hosted blog if it is not already your primary blog.
