site redirect but leave top post intact
-
I’d like to set up a site-wide redirect for all my blog posts, but I want to leave one post letting subscribers and people who stumble across my wordpress blog know that it has moved. Is there a way to do that?
Thanks.

Looking at the info for the site redirect, it appears that the front page will automatically redirect. Would this achieve the same effect?

I don’t believe that can be done. https://en.support.wordpress.com/site-redirect/ What is the URL of the exact .wordpress.COM hosted blog that you want to purchase the site redirect for?

Site redirect should send all traffic to the new site so visitors never see you old site – however your thought of leaving a note on the front page that you is quite valid – site redirects are for one year – search engines should be trained after a few weeks or months – but not so for links on other web sites or bookmarks etc.
So having a note that will display after the site redirect expires sounds good to me – then you should only need to buy site redirect for one year and let your note do the work after that

Ok, thanks.
So if I understand correctly, if someone searches for the UBC Psych 350 wordpress blog, they will get redirected to the new URL automatically? As you said, the wordpress blog won’t be visible (i.e., accessible) at all?
Thanks!

Ok, thanks.
One other question, please – if I purchase the redirect, I assume that I’ll still be able access the backend admin pages, yes?

I have not tried it but you should be able to get to the main Dashboard – you might need to log into your account here then go to the site

You have gotten a lot of accurate advice here from Timethief and Auxclass.
If you have any remaining questions, please let me know.

Thanks rootjosh.
I’m ready to go with the redirect but every time I enter my credit card information and click submit, I get a 503 error page. I’ve tried two different browsers with the same result. Any idea what this is happening? I want to give you my money!

Actually, if you do not receive it, please let me know on your other thread here:
