Site redirect confusion

  I’m having a bit of site redirection confusion – here is an overview:

  My original blog is http://www.bellecheriehandmade.com (domain upgrade purchased). Recently I changed my ‘name’ and also the direction of my blog so I wanted my URL to reflect this. I changed my URL via the Dashboard to http://www.handmadeandhomeblog.wordpress.com. I also purchased a site redirect so that visitors to the old http://www.bellecheriehandmade.com would be directed to my new URL.

  However, it appears that my old URL still remains as the primary? For example, if I type in my new URL http://www.handmadeandhome.wordpress.com it actually redirects back to http://www.bellecheriehandmade.com. And if I copy the link of one of my recent posts it also still has bellecheriehandmade.com in the URL.

  I’ve double checked my settings and re read the ‘how-to’ and tried a few different things over the past few weeks and it seems I am doing it correctly – but am I missing something?

  Hi Bec – Your custom domain is mapped to your underlying URL, so if you want to go back to the old URL, you don’t have to make any change. You can just go to Store->Domains here and set the old one as primary:
  https://handmadeandhomeblog.wordpress.com/wp-admin/paid-upgrades.php?page=domains

  I’ve done that for you now: http://handmadeandhomeblog.wordpress.com/

  And you’ve already got the redirect on the old URL, so you should be all set now. :)
