Site redirect from .wordpress.com to my upgraded name
-
Hi, I have just changed my blogname from hongkongrachel.wordpress.com to leelavera.wordpress.com. However, I’d like to register it under a new domain name: leelavera.com. I see this is an option in the upgrade, but I’m wondering if all those who go to the leelavera.wordpress.com site will automatically get redirected to the new domain name, or do I have to pay an additional $13 for this? I dont want to have to pay for the upgrade, plus $13 for the site redirect from hongkongrachel, and another $13 for the site redirect from the .wordpress to the .com.
Also, I would like to link my website’s blog page (http://www.alchemyoftravel.com/blog.html) to go directly to the blog page of my leelavera.com site. Is there a way of doing this? I see that you have instructions for mapping an existing domain to a wordpress domain, but I don’t see how to map a page of another domain to a page purchased through wordpress.
Thank you,
Rachel -
Hi there,
You can register leelavera.com and map it to leelavera.wordpress.com for $18, or $26 with private domain registration. Everyone who goes to leelavera.wordpress.com will end up at leelavera.com automatically, provided you make leelavera.com your primary domain.
You can then create a link to leelavera.com from any other website you have access to. If you want to redirect another site to leelavera.com it will cost $13 to add domain mapping if it’s a WordPress.com site. If your site is hosted elsewhere you will need to contact that hosting provider for further assistance on how to redirect a site to leelavera.com.
