Site redirect, subscribers, search engine ranking…
-
Hi,
I recently moved from wordpress.com to wordpress.org. My domain, poisonedpets.com, which I purchased through wordpress.com (previously molliemorrissette.wordpress.com) is not redirecting to my new registrar. I noticed that traffic to molliemorrissette.wordpress.com is not being redirecting to poisonedpets.com.
I requested a domain transfer from Automattic on 8/15/2012 to another domain name registrar (Network Solutions). My domain transfer was completed on 8/20/2012.
I contacted Automattic and they told me to contact support at wp.com to look into this problem.
Meanwhile, I need to have my wp.com subscribers transferred to http://www.PoisonedPets.com via Jetpack (I think). Can you do that, please?
Also, what happens to my search engine ranking with a move from wp.com to wp.org? Will it stay the same?
I also need some help downloading my media file so that I can upload them to my new host. Many images did not get exported in the XML file. I have tried many, many times, and now it appears I need to do it manually (not via XML). Except i don’t know how to do this.
The same goes for the posts – many are missing. I suppose I can try exporting and importing them again – but i don’t want to get duplicates. Is it possible to do this?
Thanks!

In Store -> Domains of your WordPress.com dashboard, you’ll need to update the primary domain to poisonedpets.com.
After the domain mapping expires, you’ll need to purchase the Site Redirect upgrade to continue pointing traffic to poisonedpets.com.

We can only transfer email subscribers from your WordPress.com blog to your self–hosted blog since the rest of your WP.com followers are following your blog through Reader.
(They can follow your self–hosted blog through WordPress.com Reader by clicking Edit List next to Blogs I Follow.)
If you’d like us to proceed transferring the email subscribers from your old site to new site, please reply to this forum thread.
You can view the number of Email Followers that will be transferred on your Stats page by clicking the Blog link under Totals, Followers & Shares.

It might stay the same since if you’re using the same domain previous as your WordPress.com blog, but it’s tough to say since that isn’t in our control.

Can you try it once more with the steps here (before updating your primary domain in Store -> Domains of your WP.com blog)?

Thank you! Yes, just transfer my subscribers please. And thanks for the info about my domain as well.
I have tried the export + import of my XML file (max size 50MB, according to .ORG) several times and it always comes out the same.
The discrepancies are: 47 posts that did not upload to .ORG:
Specifically, on .COM my posts are:
All (326)
Published (287)
Drafts (39)
Sticky (1)
Trash (34)On .ORG I imported:
All (282) (Two were created on .ORG)
Published (242) (One was created on .ORG, so it is actually 241)
Sticky (1)
Drafts 40 (one was created on .ORG, so it’s actually 39)
Trash (3)The image files are really screwy:
On .COM my media library is a total of 709MB:All (2,268)
Images (2,240)
Audio (4)
Video (7)
Unattached (216)On .ORG my media library is larger than the original media library from my .COM site (very strange):
All (2,607)
Images (2,579)
Audio (7)
Video (9)
Unattached (2,353)Had I known it was going to be such a pain I would have gotten one of the recommended hosts and gone with a guided transfer. But that’s too late now. Ugh.
Any further advice would be greatly appreciated!
Just tried another export/import – results: the same.

Yes, just transfer my subscribers please.
Sure! I’ve just transferred your email subscribers.
The discrepancies are: 47 posts that did not upload to .ORG:
Can you try splitting up the export file by choosing a posts a date range on the Export screen?

(re: export posts date range) I forgot to link this screenshot of how that would appear:
